Our work in the community in 2025

We had our busiest year yet! A look at some of our event highlights:

MAY

Emergency Fund: North County Tornado Relief

The Mission Attempt has a fund every year to help families in an emergency (for example, Juneteenth Utility Reconnection, fire damage recovery and funeral assistance for families facing sudden and tragic loss). This year’s area-wide disaster had us mobilizing to help, and quickly. The Mission Attempt gave Paraquad $500 towards tornado relief on Thursday, May 29. In addition, we are helping two families with their needs.

JUNE

Juneteenth Utility Assistance

This year The Mission Attempt helped four families facing hardship get reconnected to their electricity in the heat of the summer. We do this every year to celebrate Juneteenth! Thank you to our donors who helped us help them. This allows families to have air conditioning, electricity for lights and refrigeration for their food.

JULY

2025 Jolly July Gala: A Celebration of St. Louis Bright Lights

The Mission Attempt held its fourth Jolly July Gala celebrating the best of North St. Louis County and beyond on July 26th! We honored businesses and individuals who have put their heart and soul into our community.

This event was made possible thanks to the generous Reiko Sen Award from Race Forward.

AUGUST

Helping Kids Be Ready for School!

During two weekends in August, The Mission Attempt helped distribute backpacks and other school supplies in partnership with the National Council of Jewish Women – STL.Thanks to Koffee Ko for hosting one of the giveaways.

NOVEMBER

Thanksgiving Gift Card Giveaway

The Mission Attempt gave away 50 $100 gift cards to families for Thanksgiving. We are thankful for the generosity of our donors who made this possible, as well as Schnucks for the gift cards, and Wraggs to Riches, for hosting the gift card pickup.

DECEMBER

Hope for the Holidays Delivered!

Our sixth Hope for the Holidays event was our biggest yet! Our Lucas Elementary School venue, sponsored by St. Louis County Councilwoman Rita Days, was the perfect Winter Wonderland setting to welcome our 47 families, including 129 children. Thanks to our many donors who made this day possible (see below). It’s not too late to add your name to the list! Many thanks to Carl The Creator for capturing the smiles in the many photos below.
