Welcome to The Mission Attempt

The Mission Attempt brings our community together to support families in St. Louis. Founded by friends looking to bring positive resources to families in their community, The Mission Attempt  gives back to those who need it most.

December: Hope for the Holidays

One of the missions that makes The Mission Attempt unique is our holiday gift giveaway. We invite families who may be having a hard time this year to give us their wish lists for what they need this Christmas. We shop specifically for them, making their wishes come true. Then, we celebrate the holidays with them over warm fellowship and a hot meal. Your donation can help one of our families experience the love and joy of the holiday season. To love is to help.

Our 2024 Mission

We at The Mission Attempt believe To Love is to Help. Having recently secured our own 501c3 status and listing in Guidestar, we are working hard to expand our reach. To that end, we have doubled our fundraising goal this year to $40,000!

The funds will go to the projects listed here. Our community includes generous and committed donors from all over the St. Louis area and nationwide. We are on a mission. Join us!

  • Hope for the Holidays event in December, when we help 40 families and 100+ children
  • Emergency Assistance Program to help families who have unexpected life events
  • Back-to-School Supplies Event in partnership with the NCJW-STL
  • Juneteenth Utility Disconnection Assistance
  • Our Jolly July Gala celebrating the best of North St. Louis County
  • Coming soon: Seeking a food delivery partner.

August: Getting Kids Ready for School

We were pleased to be invited by the National Council of Jewish Women St. Louis to bring 20 children to the Back-to-School Store event the afternoon of August 4 at Temple Israel. In addition, we held a second event at Koffee Ko in North St. Louis County where we were able to give away 20 more backpacks — and smiles!

Juneteenth: Utility Assistance

The heat was brutal this summer. Imagine your family not being able to pay the electric bill, and having to bear the heat. That was the reality for several of our community members this summer. Fortunately, we were able to help six families get reconnected to power so they could have air conditioning in the sweltering summer.

“I want to take the time to say thank you to the Mission Attempt for making my payment on my electric bill…I was overjoyed…This helped me out so much, and honestly took some stress off my back. Thank you again, greatly appreciated.”
